| Since
its establishment more than 800 years ago, the Sakya Order
has produced a long line of great scholars and meditators.
The Sakya doctrine includes the full range of the enormous
variety of the Buddha's teachings, and places a balanced emphasis
on study and meditation.
The current head of the Sakya Order is His Holiness Sakya
Trizin. A direct descendant of the original founders of the
Sakyapa, His Holiness upholds the vast collections of Sakya
teachings and those of all four schools of Tibetan Buddhism.
Just as His Holiness the Dalai Lama is an emanation of Avalokiteshvara,
the Bodhisattva of great compassion, His Holiness Sakya Trizin
is an emanation of Manjushri, the Bodhisattva of wisdom. His
Holiness travels frequently from his monastery in India to
teach throughout the world.
